Six months after her arrival on the job, the adjointe à la direction des services multidisciplinaires et à la communauté (assistant to the multidisciplinary and community services direction, DSMC) for the Pontiac hospital, Nicole Chaput, takes stock of the actions taken in the region.

In an interview with CHIP 101.9, Ms. Chaput listed some needs and concerns that she has had the opportunity to observe in the past few weeks.

Nicole Chaput was named for her current title by the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais last January, with the mandate to report the needs of users and to facilitate communication with the various partners of the health network.

The CISSS de l’Outaouais highlighted the work of the DSMC assistant in Pontiac on Thursday, mentioning her contribution to the advancement of several projects and concerted actions:

– An active presence in the 6 CLSCs in the region and with FMG professionals in order to ensure the quality of reception and coordination of local services

– Close collaboration with the coordinator of the Pontiac Hospital

– Establishment of a local operational coordination committee comprising the managers of the CISSS de l’Outaouais with responsibilities in the territory

– Implementation of a local action plan to meet the challenges of the territory

– Regular communications with community stakeholders, including the establishment of an English language committee

This last point was raised with Ms. Chaput, who gave more details on the actions implemented by this committee.

Ms. Chaput’s role was also taken to another dimension during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the CISSS de l’Outaouais. “This context has given it specific mandates to support the population and partners, in particular through close collaboration with Pontiac community organizations and the transmission of information in English concerning the evolution of COVID-19,” said a press release.

It was also mentioned that Nicole Chaput’s “pivot” function at CISSS de l’Outaouais allows for “better coordination of services and adaptation of these services to meet the needs of the population of the territory”.
