The CISSS de l’Outaouais is preparing to face the coronavirus

HEALTH – Although no cases of the new Coronavirus have been identified in Quebec thus far, the fact remains that the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais is preparing for the possibilities of it appearing in the region. Marie-Ève Cloutier, the director of nursing at the CISSS de l’Outaouais gave more details on the measures currently being established.

Note that cases of Coronavirus contamination have been detected, outside of China, in the last few days. Dr. Christelle Kom Mogto, a public health consultant at the CISSS de l’Outaouais, gave more details about the virus.

The CISSS de l’Outaouais is inviting people who have traveled to China in recent weeks and have symptoms of the fever to contact 811 or a specialist. A watch system has been put in place and will allow public health authorities to be notified in the event of a suspected case.

Measures by the CISSS de l’Outaouais:
– Triage tool for 811, emergency and medical clinic teams
– All isolation rooms have been identified and are functional
– The necessary personal protective equipment is in place and in sufficient quantity (Masks, visors, gloves and gowns)
– Trajectories established if cases are confirmed in Outaouais

According to the information giving by the Gouvernement du Québec, there is no specific treatment or vaccine for diseases caused by the new Coronavirus. It is also mentioned that most people with a common disease caused by a human Coronavirus will recover on their own.
