A Pontiac athlete had a brilliant performance at last weekend’s Canadian Junior Weightlifting Championships in Edmonton. Xavier Lusignan, of Mansfield-et-Pontefract, won a gold medal in the 89kg category. The competition was broadcasted live on the Web, where the analysts and commentators described Lusignan’s performance as ‘solid and impressive’, insisting that his progress could eventually take him further in the coming years. Note that Xavier Lusignan trains in Pembroke.
