The Centre intégré de santé et de service sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais issued a press release around 10 a.m. this morning, explaining that a surgeon in the region was made available for the weekend, which allows the interruption of service in general surgery at the Pontiac hospital to be lifted starting today (Friday, January 10th) at 5 p.m. On the other hand, it was specified in Friday’s release that this available surgeon does not have the necessary training to perform a caesarean sections, therefore the interruption in obstetrics will be maintained until Monday (January 13th, 2020) at 8 a.m.

The CISSS de l’Outaouais noted, once again, that pregnant women in labor in the region will be redirected, after being assessed at the Pontiac Hospital, to the Gatineau Hospital. In the event that a pregnant woman presents for imminent delivery, the CISSS has indicated that qualified personnel will be present to ensure the care of both the mother and child.
