Municipal Council meeting of L’Île-du-Grand-Calumet postponed until next week

L’Île-du-Grand-Calumet has postponed its monthly municipal council meeting to Tuesday, October 22nd 2019. This will be the first meeting since the MRC Pontiac has decided to dissolve the national Park committee regarding the idea of a park project in the Îles Lafontaine.

On October 2nd, during an extraordinary general meeting, the Council of Mayors of the MRC Pontiac made the decision to put an end to the activities of the current committee after gaining knowledge of what they have described as ”a perceive conflict of interest” by the Mayor of L’Île-du-Grand-Calumet, Serge Newberry, who owns two islands located on the edge of the territory outlined for the park project.
