L’Isle-Aux-Allumettes; More than 200 people demanding help and answers

Yesterday in the municipality of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, a meeting was held for the victims of the 2019 floods. More than 200 people attended to express their concerns and dissatisfaction with the information provided on the management of the hydro dams. The Mayor of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Winston Sunstrum;

The Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller, said that she feels that cottage owners should also receive financial assistance and that not helping them is a form of discrimination.

Maurice Léger, from Ottawa, said he hopes that in the future, more focus will be given to long-term solutions.

Note that during this meeting, a presentations on a class action that is currently being file was given. A committee was also created to maintain political pressure on the government, on Hydro-Québec and OPG.
