Meeting of the mayors of the MRC Pontiac: summary

Several topics were discussed at this first meeting of the Mayors of the MRC in 2019, last night (Wednesday) in Campbell’s Bay. Here is a summary of the evening:

The MRC Pontiac Youth Council was discussed, the first meeting will take place on Monday, January 21st. This initiative by warden Jane Toller is to bring together eighteen students ages 14 to 18, representing the eighteen different municipalities of the MRC. In a media debrief, Toller described the schedule for the first meeting:

The Youth Council will meet every third Monday of each month. According to Jane Toller, the project will give youth a voice to express their concerns and priorities.

Little news on the futur of Livewell
The Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller, also told CHIP that Livewell Canada, the company set to establish a cannabis research and development center in Litchfield, plans are still unclear but says they are still committed to the Pontiac:

Note that back in November, LiveWell was subject to pay a mortgage of nearly $ 1.7 million from the Montreal company Deslan – A.I.M. Environmental.

Change in committees
At the same meeting, on Wednesday, the Mayors of the Regional council officialised a forestry committee, which will be composed of the director of the territory Réjean Dugas, the director of economic development, Danielle Newman the Warden Jane Toller, as well as four mayors: Maurice Beauregard (Campbell’s Bay), Gilles Dionne (Mansfield), Colleen Lariviere (Litchfield) and David Rochon (Waltham).

Danielle Newman, who took office last December, will also replace Émilie Chazelas on the multi-resources advisory committee.

The next meeting of the MRC Pontiac will take place on Wednesday, February 20th.
