Federal government supports slaughterhouse project in the region
The Abattoir les viandes du Pontiac project involved the support of several ministries as well as the various levels of government including the federal government. Pontiac MP William Amos also participated in the announcement as the federal government supported the project through a $828,625 term loan from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and a loan from the Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) of $ 83,875. The member of Parliament for Pontiac William Amos says that they are working in tandem with the Quebec government:
In their press release, the federal government says that the new slaughterhouse will be equipped with specialized and efficient equipment in accordance with the recommendations of specialists. The company will offer fresh local meat to clientele and a local slaughter service to the many producers of cattle, sheep and goats as well as hunters from the MRC Pontiac and the Outaouais region. It will also meet Halal standards, joining a major Muslim community in the Ottawa-Gatineau metropolitan area.
