The Abattoir les viandes du Pontiac to open a slaughterhouse

Abattoir les viandes du Pontiac has obtained investments totaling $ 3,495,500 to set up a multi-species slaughterhouse including a cutting and vacuum packaging plant. It was during a press conference that the Member of National Assembly for Pontiac and Minister of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Electrification of Transportation, Mr. André Fortin announced the financing of the project.

The project is part of the objectives of the Tactical Intervention Group of the MRC Pontiac, set up to accelerate economic projects. André Fortin says that it’s been a long time that the region has been waiting for this:

The new slaughterhouse will be equipped with specialized and efficient equipment in accordance with the recommendations of specialists. It will provide local fresh produce to the clientele and a local service to local breeders and hunters. It will also meet Halal standards, joining a major Muslim community in the Ottawa Gatineau metropolitan area.
The main organizer of the project, Alain Lauzon says that it was a big project for him to take on after previous efforts failed:

The slaughterhouse to be located in Clarendon should lead to the creation of 10 jobs.
