New measure to support ice winter fishing and encourage the next generation of fishers
Between December 1 and March 31, 2018, Quebec residents will be able to engage in winter fishing in specific fishing areas, including the Pontiac, without a license. The Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks announced yesterday this new rule to promote winter fishing, support the industry and promote development of the next generation of fishers.
Fishing without license, can legally be done in the waters where winter fishing is authorized. All fishers will have to respect of existing regulations. This is an new measure is designed to grow the public’s interest in ice fishing and to promote the practice of this sport as an accessible and friendly outdoor activity.
