The MRC Pontiac issued a press release yesterday, after receiving the results of the vote in each municipality. Election President Bernard Roy officially announced that Mme. Jane Toller has won the Warden race with a lead of 2,170 votes over her closest rival, Raymond Durocher, outgoing warden.

The participation rate was much higher than the provincial average, with 12,924 registered voters and more than 7,552 participating in this historic election in the Pontiac. The overall participation rate of about 58%. Advanced voter turnout was around 27%.

The official results of the Warden’s race is posted on the MRC Pontiac’s website mrcpontiac.qc.ca.

The MRC Pontiac also points out in this press release that;
• 72% of mayors at the MRC Council table continue their mandate, 37% of the council consists of women;
• 37% of candidates for mayor and councillors were women and 56% of the 125 seats in the territory of the MRC Pontiac were being contested;
• The average age of those elected in the MRC Pontiac is 55 years old.
