Workers at 19 Outaouais early childhood centers (CPEs) on Saturday gave their union a six-day strike mandate to be put into effect at a later date.

The union action was supported by 99% of unionized works in a secret ballot. According to a statement, “The educators voted in favour as a means to apply pressure to allow for a continuation of the dialogue on the renewal of their collective agreement. As nearly 11,000 other unionized workers in Quebec, some 400 members of the STCPEO (CSN) Outaouais Workers’ Union (CSN) have been without an employment contract since March 31, 2015, that’s about 30 month. ”
