FARR: Organizations have until October 6 to apply for funding

In a press release issued last Thursday, the MRC Pontiac states that the Government of Quebec’s announcement in the Regional Outreach Fund (FARR) for the Outaouais region, that The Pontiac MRC has $ 1.94 million is available for the period 2017-2018 and the regional branch of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy (MAMOT) is ready to proposals requests for financial assistance from organizations and businesses.
Organizations will have until October 6, 2017 to apply for funding for projects that fall within the regional development priorities and that will have economic overflow effects in at least two Outaouais RCMs.

Regional priorities are:
• Promote the development of rural and urban areas;
• Strengthen the Outaouais’ competitive position with regard to its neighbour’s situation;
• Ensure the transportion of people and sustainable mobility throughout the region;
• Protect the natural environment and promote adaptation to climate change;
• Expand cultural availability and accessibility;
• Promote an entrepreneurial culture in both rural and urban environments;
• Support economic diversification and innovation;
• Promote tourism development;
• Promote and enhance the agri-food sector;
• Support the development of the forest industry sector;
• Encourage academic persistence and the training of a skilled workforce.

The organizations eligible for the program are:
• Organizations: municipal; non-profit; education networks;
• Enterprises: private or social economy, with the exception of companies in the financial sector;
• Cooperatives, with the exception of financial cooperatives;
• Aboriginal communities;
• Legal entities wishing to start a private enterprise or social economy.

The Regional Project Selection Committee is composed of its President, Mrs. Stéphanie Vallée, Minister responsible for the Outaouais Region, Mayor of Gatineau, Mr. Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin and the Wardens of the four MRC’s in the Outaouais: Mr. Raymond Durocher (Pontiac), Mr. Michel Merleau (Vallée-de-la-Gatineau), Mr. Robert Bussière (Collines-de-l’Outaouais) and Mme. Paulette Lalande (Papineau).
