Elections 2017: seeking women like you!

Different methods are being used to convince women either to become candidates or to invite a woman from their entourage to do so.

Information lectures are also held throughout Quebec, including the ” Élections 2017: ça prend des femmes comme vous!”, Initiated by the UMQ. Details are available on the UMQ website.

More and more women are running for municipal office and get elected. Compared to the general elections in 2009, 12.4% of candidates are women and 8.7% of elected officials are women in 2013. The mayors constitute 17.3% of the elected representatives, while the councillors represent 32% of elected officials.
