MRC des Collines Police have identified the victim of a fatal accident that took place yesterday afternoon (October 2) at the Luskville Dragway. Emergency services were called to the race track just after 2 p.m. following a single-vehicle crash that took place during a race in the Canadian Bracket Super Tour Fall Finals. The driver of the vehicle, 69-year-old Dennis Black of North York, Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The investigation shows that moments after the start of the race, the victim’s vehicle veered off the track and struck a guardrail at high speed,” police wrote in a statement. “The cause of this loss of control is still unknown at this time. Investigators were present at the scene until 1:00 a.m. tonight to better understand what happened.”

Police added that Black was a veteran driver with about 10 years experience and the fatal race was his fourth of the day.
