As Halloween approaches, some municipalities in Quebec are choosing to move up the traditional trick-or-treating party to Friday, October 30.

For the children of our region, the trick-or-treating tour will officially take place on October 31 in Gatineau, Shawville and other Pontiac municipalities.

Halloween continues to be traditionally celebrated on October 31, which falls on a Saturday this year.

It is also important to distinguish the special activities held on October 30 from the door-to-door gathering of treats, as both are not necessarily scheduled for the same date.

For Halloween 2026, the following municipalities moved up the candy run to Friday, October 30th instead of Saturday, October 31st, according to information released this week.

  • Abitibi-Témiscamingue: Amos, Barraute, Roquemaure, Sainte-Gertrude-Manneville and Senneterre.
  • Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean: Dolbeau-Mistassini and Saint-Stanislas.
  • Bas-Saint-Laurent: Kamouraska and Saint-Pascal.
  • Nord-du-Québec: Chibougamau and Lebel-sur-Quévillon
