2026 QUEBEC ELECTIONS: THE RESULTS

2026 QUEBEC ELECTIONS: THE RESULTS

6 October 2026 à 1:26 pm

Quebecers went to the polls yesterday to elect their next provincial government, and the results are now in.

After eight years in power under the Coalition Avenir Québec, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon’s Parti Québécois will form Quebec’s next government.

The PQ won 59 of the 127 ridings, five seats short of the absolute majority of 64. It will therefore form a minority government.

The Quebec Liberal Party, led by Charles Milliard, secured 40 seats and will serve as the official opposition.

The Quebec Conservative Party, led by Éric Duhaime, makes its debut in the National Assembly with 19 seats.

Québec Solidaire retains 9 seats, while the Coalition Avenir Québec did not win any seats. CAQ leader and outgoing Premier Christine Fréchette was also defeated in Trois-Rivières.

And in the Outaouais?

In our region, the picture is very different from that of Quebec as a whole. The Quebec Liberal Party won four of the five ridings in the Outaouais.

In Pontiac, incumbent André Fortin was re-elected to a fourth term. He received 18,263 votes, or 61.08% of the vote. His closest opponent, Conservative Osmar Llanos Martinez, received 3,368 votes.

In Gatineau, Liberal David Logue was elected with 15,547 votes. He beat out Raphaël Déry, who received 8,308 votes.

In Hull, Liberal Sacha Cannon won a seat in the National Assembly with 14,349 votes, ahead of Mariève Forest of the Conservative Party.

In Chapleau, Liberal Michel Langevin was elected with 12,816 votes. He notably beat the incumbent CAQ member, Mathieu Lévesque.

And in Papineau, there was a major regional upset: Isabelle Millette of the Parti Québécois won with 11,179 votes—just 554 more than Isabelle Sabourin of the Liberal Party.

This victory is historic: it is the first time since 1976 that the Parti Québécois has won a riding in the Outaouais region. Isabelle Millette also becomes the first woman elected as a member of the National Assembly in Papineau.

The Outaouais at a Glance

Pontiac: André Fortin — PLQ

Gatineau: David Logue — PLQ

Hull: Sacha Cannon — PLQ

Chapleau: Michel Langevin — PLQ

Papineau: Isabelle Millette — PQ

Thus, in total, four Liberal members and one PQ member will represent the Outaouais region in the National Assembly.

The results in Quebec thus mark a significant change in government, as the new premier, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, will have to govern with a minority of seats and secure the support of other parties to pass his legislation.

The results are based on the preliminary vote count from October 5th; Élections Québec notes that the results will become official after the final tally of votes.
