A march from Gatineau to Ottawa against violence against women

15 September 2026 à 2:01 pm

For the 48th year, CALAS Outaouais activists are inviting the public to participate in the “Street, Night, Women Without Fear” march, which will take place this Thursday, September 17th.

The gathering and departure on the Quebec side will be at 6:00 p.m. at Jacques-Cartier Park in Gatineau, in front of the Maurice Richard statue.

This year, the march is themed “Justice in Crisis, Women in Action!” CALAS aims to denounce sexual and gender-based violence and remind people that this violence can take many forms, from street harassment to sexual assault and femicide.

The organizers also want to draw attention to the difficulties faced by some women within the justice system and are calling for more appropriate, supportive, and respectful judicial responses.

After the gathering, participants will march to Ottawa to join the Ontario march at Minto Park. A shuttle will be available for the return trip to Gatineau.
