Pontiac Community Unites to Honour Kendyl Smith Trimm and Support CHEO

The 3rd Annual Kendyl Smith-Trimm Caring for Kids CHEO Fundraiser will take place on September 12th at the Upper Pontiac Sports Complex in Chapeau, bringing the community together to honour Kendyl’s memory and support children and families at CHEO.

Kendyl was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in February 2022 and sadly passed away in August 2023 following an 18-month battle with cancer. Her mother, Cheryl Smith-Trimm, recently spoke with CHIP 101.9 about Kendyl’s story, her wish to help other sick children, and the legacy her family is working to continue through the Kendyl Smith-Trimm Caring for Kids Endowment Fund at CHEO.

The fundraising evening will include guest speakers from the CHEO Foundation, The Magic of Steven Anthony, live music, a late lunch, 50/50 draw, raffles and door prizes. Tickets are $25 per person.

Fundraising efforts will also continue throughout September, as Station Mansfield will donate three cents from every litre of gas pumped on each Thursday of the month to CHEO.

In the following interview, Cheryl discusses Kendyl’s legacy, the importance of the fundraiser, and how the Pontiac community can help support children and families at CHEO.
