The Outdoor Proximity Days invite Quebecers to enjoy nature close to home

From October 2nd to 4th, 2026, the Journées Proximité Plein Air (Outdoor Community Days) will offer Quebecers an opportunity to discover and enjoy outdoor activities close to home. The initiative aims to promote discovery, exploration, and adventure in various communities.

The event invites organizations and individuals to propose accessible and diverse activities. Activities must take place between October 2nd and 4th, be free of charge, either partially or entirely, and appeal to a diverse range of participants, particularly in terms of age and ability.

Organizers also wish to highlight non-motorized activities accessible to different skill levels. Proposals can, in particular, encourage the discovery and exploration of the outdoors.

Individuals or organizations wishing to participate can register their activity with Proximité Plein Air. An organizer’s kit is also available to facilitate the planning and promotion of their event. Normand Veillette of Loisir sport Outaouais provides all the details:

“The Outaouais region is excellent for outdoor activities; there are beautiful outdoor sites throughout the MRCs, such as Leslie Park in Otter Lake, Parc des Chutes Coulonge in Fort-Coulonge, Esprit Rafting, and the lovely trails near Isle-aux-Allumettes. There are also other outdoor sites elsewhere. We encourage people to get active and contribute by organizing outdoor events in their local communities. This initiative is aimed at site managers who can take advantage of these Community Days from October 2nd to 4th.”

The deadline to propose an activity is September 18th, 2026. The Outdoor Proximity Days will then take place from October 2nd to 4th wherever activities are organized.

With this initiative, Outdoor Proximity aims to bring Quebecers closer to nature and encourage outdoor activities within their communities.
