Christine Fréchette Team Launches Outaouais Campaign

CAQ Candidates with Christine Fréchette’s team in the Outaouais region officially launched their campaign Monday and outlined the priorities that will guide their efforts over the coming weeks.

As part of the campaign, Christine Fréchette’s team is pledging $53.4 million over four years to strengthen services for women experiencing or at risk of intimate partner violence and expand emergency shelter capacity across Quebec.

The plan would add the equivalent of one intervention worker to each of Quebec’s 164 women’s shelters and support the creation of eight new first-stage emergency shelters in areas with the greatest need.

The team says the investment would come on top of $91 million already allocated in the most recent provincial budget.

The announcement comes as 14 femicides have been recorded in Quebec since the beginning of the year.
