Emergency rooms in the Outaouais region continue to be under significant pressure, with the region ranking among the worst in Quebec for wait times. According to data released this week, the wait time to see a doctor is particularly high.

Data updated on August 24th shows an average wait time of 7 hours and 12 minutes in Outaouais waiting rooms for the previous day. The stretcher occupancy rate reached 113%, with 30 patients on stretchers for more than 24 hours.

Over the past 30 days, the average time spent in waiting rooms has been 6 hours and 24 minutes, while the average stretcher occupancy rate has reached 134%.

However, the situation varies from one facility to another and can change rapidly. The most urgent cases are always treated as a priority.

This situation is yet another example of the significant pressure exerted on emergency services in the Outaouais region.
