Proposed merger for the Desjardins caisses of Pontiac and Haute-Gatineau
The Desjardins caisses of Rivières de Pontiac, Haute-Gatineau, and Gracefield have presented their members with a merger proposal that could lead to the creation of the Caisse Desjardins des Rivières-du-Nord-de-l’Outaouais as early as January 1st, 2027.
If approved, the new cooperative would bring together more than 23,000 members and represent an estimated business volume of $1.7 billion.
Members will be called to vote during special general meetings scheduled for June 15th and 16th. For the proposal to be adopted, it must receive the support of at least 66.7% of the votes.
Leaders of the three caisses argue that this merger would strengthen the organization’s financial stability, improve the services offered to members, and better address future challenges in the financial sector.
