The municipalities of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Chichester, and Sheenboro have announced the implementation of a joint project supported by $525,000 over three years from the Government of Quebec. The initiative aims to strengthen municipal collaboration and improve the sustainability and quality of local services.

The project will harmonize tools and procedures, pool certain services (such as road maintenance, waste management, and municipal administration), and optimize administrative efficiency while promoting staff professionalization. Residents will benefit from more reliable, accessible, and higher-quality services.

An independent study will be conducted to examine the advantages and challenges of a potential municipal merger. Officials emphasize that this study does not mean a merger has been decided but will provide objective information to support future decisions by municipal councils.

The process will be transparent, with regular updates and public communication before any major changes. This project is funded by the Government of Quebec under the Cooperation and Municipal Governance component of the Fonds régions et ruralité.
