The Outaouais Alzheimer’s Society will hold a walk to support cognitive health

The Outaouais Alzheimer’s Society will hold a walk to support cognitive health

16 March 2026 à 2:39 pm

Registration is now open for the walk organized by the Alzheimer Society of the Outaouais, which will take place on May 31st, 2026, at Lac-Leamy Park in Gatineau.

The event aims to raise community awareness about cognitive health, support those affected by neurocognitive disorders, and help destigmatize diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Participants are invited to gather near the beach starting in the morning. The walk is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.

Beyond the walk itself, the organizers hope to create an opportunity for solidarity and well-being. “Walking, staying active, and coming together are simple actions that contribute to brain health,” the event organizers note.

After the walk, participants can enjoy activities on-site in a friendly atmosphere. Lunch boxes will also be available on-site, with proceeds going to the Alzheimer Society of the Outaouais, thanks to the support of their partner, Chartwell Retirement Residences.

The day will also feature a musical performance by singer Yanik Pépin, who will add a festive touch to the event.

The organizers are encouraging participants to form teams and wear a matching accessory or shirt to show their solidarity. Official shirts and various promotional items featuring the march’s colors are available for purchase through an online store.

In addition to supporting the cause, those in attendance on May 31st will have the chance to participate in several door prize drawings, including the Alzheimer’s Societies’ 50-50 draw.

Those interested can now register and get more information online.
