Admission is $10, which includes entry into prize draws totaling $3,000. The event is free for youth under 16.
The celebration is open to the entire public.
The Outaouais Provincial Association of Independent Trappers (APTICO) will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cantley Multifunctional Community Centre, located at 6 Impasse des Étoiles.
The public is invited to explore the evolution of trapping over the past fifty years. Visitors can meet the association’s senior members, watch demonstrations of trapping techniques and fur processing, and participate in various workshops, including sessions designed for youth.
A private collection showcasing the evolution of traps will be on display, and a beaver tasting will also be offered. Around 30 specialized vendors featuring traps, accessories, furs, tanning, and lures will be present.
Several conferences are scheduled, including a study on bears in the Outaouais presented by biologist André Dumont, along with presentations on snare-making, topographic maps, and forestry. Stephan Grondin gives all the details:
