Family Tragedy in Kitigan Zibi Community, Outaouais

A family tragedy occurred overnight Wednesday in the Kitigan Zibi Indigenous community near Maniwaki, in the Outaouais region.

According to information confirmed by police, a 41-year-old man allegedly shot his two children, aged 10 and 12, before turning the weapon on himself.

Authorities were called to a residence on Kichi Mikan Street shortly after 2 a.m.

The two children were transported to a hospital, where their deaths were unfortunately confirmed.

The investigation has been handed over to the Sûreté du Québec, which will determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
