A Snowmobile Accident Claims One Life in Mansfield

A man lost his life last night in a snowmobile accident on Lac-Jim Road, in the Mansfield-et-Pontefract area.

According to preliminary information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), a head-on collision between two snowmobiles occurred around 11:30 p.m. Thursday evening. The impact was so severe that one of the drivers died at the scene from his injuries.

The second snowmobiler involved in the crash was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

Marc Tessier, sergeant and spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec:

The victim’s identity has not been released by the Sûreté du Québec. Specialized collision investigators from the SQ spent part of the night at the scene to reconstruct the circumstances of the crash. The investigation continues today to determine the exact causes of this tragedy, which has deeply affected the snowmobiling community and residents of the Pontiac region.
