Google Issues Emergency Update for Chrome After Discovery of 13 Vulnerabilities, Four Considered Highly Critical

Google has released an emergency update for its Chrome browser following the discovery of thirteen security vulnerabilities, four of which are considered highly critical. These flaws affect PCs, Macs, and Linux computers, but do not impact mobile devices.

Among the most serious issues is a type confusion vulnerability in the V8 engine, which can lead to memory corruption and allow an attacker to execute code simply by visiting a malicious website. Other significant flaws include a use-after-free vulnerability in the Digital Credentials module, as well as faulty implementations in Google Updater and DevTools.

Google reports that it has not detected any active exploitation of these vulnerabilities but strongly recommends that users update their browsers immediately. The minimum versions to install are 143.0.7499.40 or .41 for Windows and Mac, and .40 for Linux.

To check your version, open Chrome, click the three dots in the top right corner, go to Help, then About Google Chrome. If an update is available, it will install automatically.

Reminder: Chrome on mobile devices is not affected, but it remains important to keep all applications up to date to ensure maximum security.
