SQ Detachment in the Pontiac MRC Reminds Residents of Winter Regulations
Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) detachment in the Pontiac MRC are reminding road users that overnight parking is prohibited throughout the MRC from November 15 to April 15, between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Anyone who violates this regulation may receive a $158 fine, including fees.
The SQ also noted that as of December 1, vehicles must be equipped with approved winter tires. Drivers who fail to comply may face a $200 fine plus fees. Studded tires are permitted from October 15 to May 1.
“Beyond the fine, this is about your safety and the safety of other motorists you meet on the road. Winter tires in good condition can reduce a vehicle’s braking distance by 25%,” the SQ stated.
