Boost Your Mental Health with the Workplace Neighbours’ Day
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Workplace Neighbours’ Day. Organized annually in November by Mouvement santé mentale Québec, the initiative aims to improve mental health and team cohesion at work through a shared festive break among colleagues. And it clearly works: 88% of participating organizations reported strengthened team cohesion as a result of the event.
Myriam, from Mouvement santé mentale Québec, shares all the details about this year’s celebration:
In 2025, the celebration takes on an even more strategic role: it is part of the National Health Prevention Strategy, which aims to promote and maintain healthy, sustainable living and working environments. It also helps reduce psychosocial risks in the workplace, in line with the new legal requirements under the Act to Prevent and Combat Psychological Harassment and Sexual Violence in the Workplace, which came into effect on October 6th. This law requires employers to incorporate a prevention policy into their organization’s prevention program or action plan.
La Fête des voisins au travail, c’est plus qu’un moment festif. C’est une occasion de se reconnecter à l’humain derrière les rôles, de prendre soin de nos liens et de notre santé mentale collective.
The celebration can take many forms, and the Mouvement santé mentale Québec offers workplaces a range of free resources to help organize their activities, available here.
