Narrow Victory for Incumbent Jean-Louis Corriveau in L’Île-du-Grand-Calumet
The 2025 election in L’Île-du-Grand-Calumet was extremely close, with incumbent Mayor Jean-Louis Corriveau winning by just six votes over challenger Sylvain Tremblay. Due to the tight race, results were not confirmed until 2 a.m. If validated, this will mark Corriveau’s re-election.
Former mayor Serge Newberry was unsuccessful in his bid to return to the municipal council, receiving only 97 votes (17%) compared with 248 votes (over 80%) for his opponent Brian Duval. In the race for Council Seat 5, Marcelle Dumouchel secured a majority over Francine Tremblay.
