Allergies Québec Launches Its “My Turquoise Pumpkin” Campaign for Halloween

15 October 2025 à 1:37 pm

As Halloween approaches, Allergies Québec is relaunching its “My Turquoise Pumpkin” campaign, an initiative designed to make Halloween safer and more inclusive for the thousands of children living with food allergies. Dominique Seigneur, Director of Communications and Development at Allergies Québec, provides all the details:

The concept is simple: homes that wish to offer non-food treats—such as stickers, small toys, or crayons—display a turquoise-painted pumpkin or an official sign outside. This signals to affected families that they can safely visit those houses.

Inspired by the Teal Pumpkin Project launched in the United States in 2014, the initiative is gaining momentum in Quebec. This year, residents can also register on an interactive map available on the Allergies Québec website, helping parents plan their trick-or-treat route.

The organization reminds us that in Canada, approximately one in 13 children lives with a food allergy, representing thousands of families who face difficult choices every Halloween.
