National Tree and Forest Week September 21 to 27, 2025
National Tree and Forest Week (NTFW) is celebrated each year by many individuals and numerous government and non-government organizations. During NTFW, Canadians are encouraged to learn about Canada’s forest heritage and to gain a deeper understanding of this important and renewable resource. Forests are a cornerstone of our economy, culture, traditions, and history—as well as our future. Many communities, countless families, and thousands of individuals rely on forests for their livelihoods and way of life.
The theme for 2025 is: “Roots of Resilience: From Seed to Canopy.” Danielle St-Aubin from Trees Canada emphasizes the importance of this week:
Community-managed forests in Canada are the pillars of the economic, cultural, and environmental sustainability of local communities. The health of forests, from their establishment to maturity, relies on science and innovation. While forests in the country are generally considered to be thriving, the canopy remains very fragile.
