For the 47th year, CALAS Outaouais activists are inviting the public to join the march “Take Back the Night” (La rue, la nuit, les femmes sans peur) and to gather on September 18th at 6:00 p.m. in Jacques Cartier Park, in front of the Maurice Richard statue in Gatineau.

The march aims to build solidarity among women and the wider community by denouncing and resisting the violence that women continue to face. Organizers stress the importance of defending the right to be — and to feel — safe everywhere.

Joëlle Trahan of CALAS provided more details.

In the Outaouais, as across Quebec, sexual violence remains a major social issue, affecting one in three women. This year, the theme of the march is “Refusing the Unacceptable.” It is a call for mobilization, action, and solidarity.

The campaign reflects a shared determination to end the normalization of sexual violence and discrimination against women. The march invites everyone to take a collective stand against sexual violence, to acknowledge the experiences of survivors, and to reaffirm that women’s safety is a fundamental right that cannot be ignored.
