40 Years of Ladysmith Oktoberfest – Featuring a German Headliner
From October 3 to 5, the largest Oktoberfest celebration in the Outaouais returns to the Thorne Recreation Centre to mark its 40th anniversary. This milestone year will feature a historic first: the arrival of Brass Musix, a dynamic seven-piece brass band from Germany. Organizers of the 40th edition noted that the group’s participation was made possible thanks to the generous support of the German Embassy. Brass Musix will take the stage on Sunday evening, October 5.
“We are extremely proud to celebrate 40 years of community, culture, and festivities,” said Lorraine Bretzlaff, President of Oktoberfest Ladysmith. “Oktoberfest Ladysmith has become a landmark event for the Pontiac and the Outaouais — a place where generations come together to celebrate our German roots.”
Blending traditional Bavarian brass music with jazz, rock, and pop influences, Brass Musix delivers bold, high-energy performances that appeal to all ages. Known across Europe for their colorful stage presence and interactive shows, the group is now bringing its modern take on Oktoberfest music to Canadian audiences for the very first time.
Founded in 1985, Oktoberfest Ladysmith is a volunteer-run festival that celebrates the region’s German heritage through music, dance, food, and tradition. Over the years, it has become a cherished fall tradition. This year’s program will also feature performances by East Bound of Bytown, Danny Sylvester, Gail Gavan, The Plager Boys, traditional Schuhplattler dancers, a parade, and a truck pull competition.
Festival-goers can enjoy German cuisine paired with local beer. Admission is $15 to $20 per day, or $45 for the full weekend, with free entry for children under 12.
Events will take place at the Thorne Recreation Centre, 775 Route 366 in Ladysmith. More details are available on their website: Oktoberfest Ladysmith
