As summer draws to a close, Tourisme Outaouais is reporting very positive tourism results on both sides of the river. The region experienced an exceptional summer season, highlighted by a significant increase in traffic at local accommodations. From May to July, the number of overnight stays rose by 4.5% compared to the same period in 2024. July stood out in particular, with an increase of 8.3%.

Tourisme Outaouais President and CEO, Geneviève Latulippe, also shared details from a recent survey that has been made public.

The new Ottawa Tourist Information Centre and the Maison du tourisme in Gatineau together assisted thousands of visitors to the National Capital Region, offering personalized travel planning services, tailor-made itineraries, and a warm welcome that helped them make the most of their stay. The Montebello tourist information office also reported a 7% increase in visitors compared to 2024.

Summer 2025 was an excellent season for the tourism industry in the Outaouais, as shown by the strong rise in traffic at local accommodations, generating significant benefits for the region. Visitors came in large numbers to every part of the Outaouais, taking advantage of both the region’s urban and cultural offerings as well as its vast outdoor spaces. They were drawn to discover Canada’s capital region, its cultural and recreational opportunities in both city and countryside—including here in the Pontiac—as well as the natural beauty that defines the area.

The full (French-language) interview with Geneviève Latulippe, conducted by Nathalie Vasiloff, is available here.
