The SQ emphasizes that these deaths and collisions occurred despite numerous police operations carried out throughout the province, including on bodies of water and involving vehicles used by ATVs.
“More than ever, distracted driving, speeding, impaired driving due to drugs, alcohol, or a combination of both, and failure to wear safety equipment are once again contributing to the vast majority of serious and fatal collisions this year. For many Quebecers, summer vacation continues, and the SQ would like to remind them to remain cautious, both on the road and during their recreational and tourist activities. In collaboration with its partners, the police force will continue its awareness and intervention efforts,” the SQ said in its press release.
