Municipality of Pontiac selected for ethics audit

Municipality of Pontiac selected for ethics audit

31 July 2025 à 1:01 pm

In June, the Quebec Municipal Commission (CMQ) announced that it was conducting a performance audit of the code of ethics and professional conduct of around twenty municipalities throughout the province. Among the municipalities selected for analysis was the Municipality of Pontiac, located in the MRC des Collines. The objective of this work is to assess whether, beyond legal requirements, the codes of ethics and professional conduct adopted by municipalities to regulate the behavior of elected officials and employees “actively contribute to strengthening an ethical culture.” The audit will be conducted in municipalities with fewer than 100,000 inhabitants.

Following a preliminary study, the CMQ then conducts a detailed analysis to gather the information needed to support its findings, and draw conclusions on each of the audit objectives. A final report is then sent to the members of the municipal councils and will be made public on the CMQ’s website, though the expected publication date is not listed.
