Bryson Lions serving up cipaille this Sunday
The Bryson Lions Club is putting on their annual cipaille supper this Sunday (August 3) starting at noon at their hall on rue Principale.
Cipaille (or sea-pie) is a traditional layered meat pie, and the club has been holding the fundraiser for more than 25 years. President Betty Leach explained that preparations are already underway for the traditional meal, which requires 600 pounds of beef and pork that are processed on Friday night. The pies are then cooked overnight Saturday in a wood-fired furnace in order to be ready to serve the following day.
She said that this event was the club’s biggest fundraiser every year, and they expect around 200 people to stop by for a bite. She noted that they also do take-out as well as dine-in. The money goes towards upkeep at the hall, as well as donations to the community such as bursaries for local students.
In addition to the meal, there will be live music playing outside the hall.
