Police recover body of Quyon man missing since Sunday

The search for a 53-year-old Quyon man who had been missing in the Ottawa River since Sunday afternoon ended earlier today (July 29), as the man’s body was located by Sûreté du Québec divers around 12:45 p.m. It took roughly an hour to bring the victim to the riverbank where his death was confirmed.

“A coroner’s inquest will be held to determine the causes and circumstances of this drowning. For the moment, the known elements point to an accidental death. We are not authorized to release the victim’s identity at this time,” said the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais police.

The man disappeared in the Ottawa River on Sunday around 5:30 p.m., after trying to rescue a swimmer in distress.
