Quyon man missing in Ottawa River since Sunday evening

Police are searching for a 53-year-old Quyon man who has been missing in the Ottawa River since 5:30 p.m. Sunday (July 27). The man apparently jumped into the water from a pontoon boat near Ile Mohr (just downriver from Quyon) while attempting to rescue a swimmer in distress.

In a press release issued Monday, the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais police confirmed the man was not wearing a safety vest when he dove in, and sank underwater. The woman in distress was rescued and is doing well, but the man remains missing despite searches by boaters and emergency services.
