24 July 2025 à 11:36 am

Around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon (July 23) officers from the local Sûreté du Québec detachment stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 301 in Litchfield, as it was traveling 127 km/h in a 90 km/h zone. During the stop, officers discovered that the vehicle’s license plate did not match the vehicle and that the driver was wanted on several arrest warrants in Ontario. Further checks confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Ontario.

Officers arrested the driver, a 36-year-old man from l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet. He was taken to the SQ station and is scheduled to appear Wednesday at the Campbell’s Bay Courthouse, where he could face charges of possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a burglary tool, operating a vehicle while prohibited, and breach of conditions. He could also receive fines totaling $1,162 and 3 demerit points for speeding, driving a vehicle while under penalty, and for driving with an improper license plate.
