Jean-Pierre Landry announces intention to run for MRC Pontiac warden
Campbell’s Bay councillor Jean-Pierre Landry will be seeking the position of MRC Pontiac’s warden in this fall’s municipal elections.
Originally from Shawinigan, Landry’s family moved to the Pontiac in 1967, as his father worked to start up Consolidated-Bathurst’s mill in Portage-du-Fort. Now retired, he worked for many years for the provincial government at Services Québec. He’s served several stints on Campbell’s Bay council and on the boards of several community organizations.
He said that if elected, he would work to unite the council of mayors table, and be a team leader for the MRC.
Landry isn’t the only one seeking the position, as fellow municipal councillor Josey Bouchard announced last week that she plans to be in the running. Current Warden Jane Toller declined to comment to CHIP 101.9 last week when asked whether she intends to seek a third term.
Election day is November 2, and candidates must file their nomination papers between September 19 and October 3. More information is available via Élections Quebec.
The full interview with Landry (9m55) is available here.
