Western Quebec School Board cancels classes Monday due to heat
The Western Quebec School Board announced earlier today that they will be cancelling classes, daycare and transportation services across most of their jurisdiction on Monday (June 23) due to expected high temperatures.
“Environment Canada is projecting temperatures exceeding 33°C, with humidex values likely to reach or surpass 40°C, which meets the threshold for a heat warning in our region,” the statement reads. “These conditions pose significant health risks, particularly for young children and individuals in non-air-conditioned environments.”
The order covers the majority of the board, including their facilities in the Pontiac region.
“We understand that this decision may cause inconvenience for some families, and we appreciate your understanding and support as we prioritize the well-being of our school community.”
