Maurice Beauregard memorial tournament returns this weekend
Maurice Beauregard memorial tournament returns this weekend
The third annual ball tournament in memory of former Campbell’s Bay Mayor Maurice Beauregard, who passed away from cancer in October 2022, will take place this coming weekend at the park named in his honour.
Beauregard’s widow, Kelly McMahon-Beauregard, said that she and Maurice had met playing ball and when she and her sons had been brainstorming a way to honour his legacy, a tournament was a natural choice.
This year’s edition will get underway Friday and wrap up Sunday afternoon, with an exhibition men’s fastpitch game on Saturday evening.
McMahon explained that the funds raised by the event go towards three bursaries for local graduating students who demonstrate leadership and community spirit. Any funds left over will go towards improvements at Maurice Beauregard Park, which the municipality named in his honour shortly before he passed.
More information is available on the tournament’s social media page.
