Work on Hwy. 148 in Municipality of Pontiac
Commuters on Hwy. 148 in the Municipality of Pontiac should be advised that work will take place on the road in several sections beginning today (April 22).
The larger section of repairs will be taking place on the 4-lane section running from chemin Lebrun to chemin des Pères-Dominicains. The resurfacing project on the westbound lanes (heading towards Shawville) will last until June, with the traffic diverted to the eastbound lane.
Work also begins today on a section of the highway between chemin m Westbrook and chemin Cochrane.
In a post on social media, Pontiac MNA André Fortin expressed relief that the work that had been restarted, and highlighted the section where it narrows in Luskville as a longstanding safety issue.
“Finally! Starting tomorrow, roadwork will resume on the 148 in the Municipality of Pontiac. Another layer of pavement will be added to the Eastbound four lane and the entire project will get started on the Westbound four lane,” he wrote. “The total project however is much larger than just the four lanes and will extend from Westbrook to Peres-Dominicains Roads. And changing the configuration of the road by the businesses in Luskville, for obvious safety reasons.”
