New pumper tanker truck for Fort-Coulonge Fire Department

New pumper tanker truck for Fort-Coulonge Fire Department

17 April 2025 à 3:28 pm

The Fort-Coulonge Fire Department added a new pumper tanker to their hall earlier today (April 17).

Fire Chief Gaetan Fortin said that the new addition is a 2025 Freightliner, which will replace a truck from 1995 that was out of commission and not able to respond to fires. He said that the new vehicle can hold nearly twice as much water and has more pumping capacity than the old one, at 1,050 gallons/min, increasing their effectiveness.

He said that the cost of the new machine is roughly $700,000, though with the financing taken into account, it will likely be closer to $900,000. He said that the purchase was necessary to meet their obligations under the regional fire safety cover plan for responding to structure fires.
