ARCQ launches mobile application

ARCQ launches mobile application

19 February 2025 à 3:07 pm

To mark World Radio Day, the Association des radiodiffuseurs communautaires du Québec (ARCQ) is proud to announce the launch of its mobile app, now available free of charge on Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

Designed to adapt to new information consumption habits, this app offers users centralized access to all 37 ARCQ member community radio stations, including CHIP 101.9. Listeners can easily find their local stations and access a news feed covering the whole of Quebec, in real time.

The aim of this initiative is to enhance the value of these essential media while enabling certain stations to enter the digital universe. In a context where the dissemination of information is evolving rapidly, this application offers a first opportunity for many community radio stations to make their presence known online. ARCQ General Manager Angelica Carrero explained:

The development of ARCQ’s mobile application is part of a drive to further promote Quebec’s community radio stations, which stand out for their authenticity, reliability and creativity. In an ever-changing media landscape, where the abundance of information available doesn’t always guarantee its quality, these stations play a crucial role in offering news that is relevant, reliable and rooted in local realities.

CHIP 101.9 General Manager Geneviève Gagnon also stressed the importance of community radio in promoting culture and information:

“These stations ensure the continuous transmission of quality information. As a society, we have everything to gain by valuing them and giving them the place they deserve,” Carrero added. “The real beneficiaries are the listeners and citizens of Quebec.”
