JOB OFFER – MUNICIPALITY OF SHEENBORO ROAD ATTENDANT-LABOURER
The Municipality of Sheenboro Public Works Department is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Municipal
Road Worker to join our team this spring. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair,
and improvement of municipal roads and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Director General, the road attendant will provide a range of services such as:
– Perform routine maintenance and repair of roads, streets, and related infrastructure.
– Fill potholes, repair cracks, and seal road surfaces.
– Assist with snow removal and ice control when needed.
– Install and maintain traffic signage, road markings, and barricades.
– Conduct inspections of roadways and infrastructure, identifying and reporting issues that need attention.
– Respond to emergencies, including accidents or road hazards, as needed.
– Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulations, and local ordinances.
– Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
– Collaborate with other municipal departments and contractors on large-scale projects.
– Maintenance and control of the municipal waste management site.
– All other tasks requested.
Requirements and Qualifications
– High school diploma or equivalent.
– Valid driver’s license
– Previous experience in road maintenance or construction is a plus.
– Ability to operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
– Knowledge of road construction, repair techniques, and safety procedures.
– Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and inclement weather.
– Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor.
– Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
– Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform other physically demanding tasks.
Conditions and Wages
This is a permanent, seasonal position for approximately eight (8) months per year with the possibility of yearround work. We offer an hourly wage based on experience for 35-40 hours/week, including weekends and oncall hours, as required. Other benefits offered include a pension plan and a group insurance plan.
